A film steeped in controversy even before cameras rolled, Nitram has the daunting task of depicting the event that drove Australia’s worst mass murderer, Martin Bryant, to slay 35 innocent souls on that horrific day in 1996. Under the direction of Justin Kurzel (Snowtown) all indications are that Nitram achieves its goal of delving into the madness of Bryant without resorting to exploitative tastelessness. Starring Caleb Landry as Bryant along with Judy Davis, Essie Davis, and Anthony LaPaglia, Nitram is assured to be a confronting and haunting experience.
