Legendary filmmaker Paul Schrader returns with The Card Counter, a thriller that stars Oscar Isaac as a former military interrogator turned gambler, who is pulled into a murder plot by a fellow serviceman (Tye Sheridan) who seeks revenge against a sadistic general (Willem Dafoe). Schrader last film First Reformed saw the acclaimed writer and director nab his first Oscar nomination, so anticipation is high with what the Taxi Driver screenwriter will do next, especially with a talented thespian like Oscar Isaac in the lead role.
The Card Counter releases September 10th in the US cinemas and December 2nd in Australia cinemas.
