Universal Pictures’ embattled production of The Wolfman looks poised to surprise many.
A remake of the monster movie classic, The Wolfman stars a spot on casted Benicio Del Toro as Lawrence Talbot, a nobleman with a dark past who returns to his Blackmoore home, after the fiancé of his recently missing brother, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt) summons him home to aid in the search of his brother, led by Scotland Yard inspector Aberline (Hugo Weaving).
Reunited with his estranged, shut in father (Anthony Hopkins), Lawrence uncovers an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full, a curse that befalls him after he is attacked by a vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoore.
Directing The Wolfman is Joe Johnston (Jurassic Park III), replacing Mark Romanek who left the production during its initial stages due to “creative differences”.
Also on hand multiple Oscar winning special effects artist Rick Baker, he who was responsible for perhaps the greatest transformation scene on film in the horror classic An American Werewolf in London.
Universal have released a whole bunch of images from the film, along with two cracking trailers which proves that this latest incarnation of The Wolfman is set to be one stylish-moody-gothic monster movie.
