Hailee Steinfeld and Asa Butterfield are set to star in the sci-fi action thriller Ender's Game.

Based on the novel written by Orson Scott Card, the film focuses on a futuristic military academy where children are trained to fight an alien invasion.

Butterfield will play the title character and Steinfeld will play the lone female in the child army.

Gavin Hood (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) will direct his own script.

Ender’s Game will be released in 2013.
