Taylor Lautner and director Gus Van Sant will team up on an as yet titled indie project.
The small budget film is based on a nonfiction article in The New Yorker, which Lautner’s production company optioned.
It has been reported that Lautner’s decision to go the indie route was largely influenced by the critical and box office disaster which was Abduction, an action/thriller which was poised to set up Lautner as a standalone movie star after working on the Twilight movies.
Max Steel and Stretch Armstrong, potential major studio movies which Lautner is attached to, have lost momentum as the teen heartthrob looks to working in more credible projects with proven filmmakers.
More information regarding the Lautner / Van Sant collaboration is expected this week.
