Aaron Eckhart will play Beach Boys drummer Dennis Wilson in The Drummer.

The film will look at the last six years of Wilson’s life, when the singer/songwriter released his acclaimed solo album “Pacific Ocean Blue”. Wilson died in 1983.

Eckhart is currently learning how to play drums and piano, and will sing in the movie.

Bottle Shock duo Randall Miller and screenwriter Joey Savin will direct and write The Drummer, respectively.
