Gerard Butler will star in the action thriller Hunter Killer.

Butler will play Captain Joe Glass, an untested submarine commander of the USS Toledo who must work with a Navy SEAL team to rescue the president of Russia from a military coup.

Sam Worthington is being eyed for the role of Navy SEAL leader Bill Beaman.

Antoine Fuqua (Shooter) will direct.
