Olivia Wilde will star in the Formula One drama Rush. Meanwhile, Russell Crowe is also in negotiations to co-star.
Rush will centre on the profession battle between ’70s Formula One racers James Hunt (Hemsworth) and Niki Lauda (Bruhl).
Lauda severely injured himself when he crashed his car during the 1976 German Grand Prix in Nurburgring, moments after protesting the tracks safety conditions. His competitive spirit prompted Lauda to get back behind the wheel and try to stop Hunt from winning the world title.
Wilde will play 1970s supermodel Suzy Miller, who fell in love with and married the handsome, womanising Hunt.
However Miller left Hunt for his best friend and actor Richard Burton, who famously payed the $1 million divorce settlement in order to marry Miller himself.
The Burton role has been earmarked for Crowe, who previously worked with Rush director Ron Howard on A Beautiful Mind and Cinderella Man.
Howard will direct a script by Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon).
