Robert Duvall and Werner Herzog will star alongside Tom Cruise in the crime thriller One Shot.

Based on the book by Lee Child, One Shot will focus on former military policeman turned drifter named Jack Reacher (Cruise), who takes it upon himself to solve a conspiracy involving a lone sniper who murdered five people.

Herzog will play villainous role of The Zec, an ex-prisoner of war who arranges and stages the murders and is the head of the conspiracy.

No word on what role Duvall will play, but it is said to be small in stature.

Rosamund Pike and Richard Jenkins also co-star.

One Shot will be directed by Christopher McQuarrie (The Way of the Gun) based on his own screenplay.
