Peter Weir’s The Way Back was an underrated film that chronicled the treacherous journey made by a group of POW’s who escape from a Soviet gulag. Key to its success was the terrific hair and make-up that transformed the likes of Jim Sturgess and Colin Farrell into starved, dehydrated shells of men battling the elements to stay alive.
