When the youngest son of recently deceased Amity Harbour chief of police Michael Brody (played in the first two Jaws films by Roy Scheider) is killed by a shark, his mother Ellen (Lorraine Gary) is convinced that a great white is out for revenge against her and her family. Re-locating to the warm waters of the Bahamas, Ellen's fears are realised when the shark follows her to the disbelief of her son Michael (Lance Guest).
I am for the suspension of belief in cinema, but the premise for this movie is simply ridiculous. Sharks are not serial killers, they don't go around bumping people off of a hit list, and they don't hold personal vendettas. The script by Michael De Guzman is beyond ludicrous that it is almost comical, the acting is dreadful and the direction by Joseph Sargent is second rate. If Jaws: The Revenge was marketed as a spoof comedy taking the piss out of the Jaws franchise than maybe it would of saved some face, but as a horror/thriller it is a disgraceful and disrespectful movie of the lowest standard. Sargent (who also produced this crap) should be ashamed of creating such rubbish, as should Gary, Caine and the rest of the cast for agreeing to star in it.
This makes Jaws: 3-D look like a bloody masterpiece. I wish I could get the last hour and a half of my life back.
